Partytime at The Patch

On Thursday night a couple of dozen quilters put on their best outfits to wine & dine at The Old Mill Restaurant.

It was decided that we should dress in our "Best" wedding outfits....
Donna's representation of a blushing bride was a real hoot.

Loris is dutifully making sure everything is perfect for us all.

Beatrice and Jo, along with Jo's new baby made it a 3 generation event

JJ's expressive face and zany telling of her "Story" kept us roaring with laughter.
She sure knows how to "act like a chicken"

We all swapped "puddings" and opened our gifts.
What fun it was to tour the table to admire what other's received too.

A great way to end our year with a lovely meal, good cheer and the company of great friends

Row x Row Handover

Last night we handed over the Row x Row bags to their owners. Seven of us took part and Beth did a fabulous job keeping us all on the right path as we each added a row to every quilt.

Linda with her collection of blocks.
She came into the challenge as a reserve and has really helped out.
Lyn's rows are all Black & White

Sue's "Farmtown" rows are gorgeous

JJ has rows as pretty as a picture

Thanks to Beth who organised this challenge for us. Her rows are striking.

Pat has a garden of Pinks

Mary loves her Birdhouses. They turned out beautifully.

Three more quilts have new owners.....

For some reason I can't make all the photos stick to the previous post so here's the 3 that kept sliding out.

Camp Quality comes to Dongara 2009

Every year Camp Quality sends a group of kids to Dongara for the Festival Weekend and Blessing of the Fleet. Our local Lions Club gives them a great time with a disco, drive-in movie & good fun.
The Bowling Club puts on  meal of Fish & Chips on Friday night and the whole town welcomes them with open arms.
Last year some of our members decided to make quilts to give to these kids who certainly all deserve bravery awards.      The quilts were received with so much enthusiasm and delight and we all got such a buzz out of seeing their faces light up that we decided to do it again this year. Tonight we were invited to the camp at the Rec Centre to present the quilts and then stay on for a casserole tea. Here's a collection of pics to share the fun and excitement as each boy or girl opened their quilt. The crowd whooped and cheered as each one was displayed and lots of hugs were shared

Everyone tucked into the delicious meal provided by the "Lions"
A few of the boys had been last year as well so they received a cushion and one special local girl, Karri, who is Patron of the Camp, was also presented with a quilt to commemorate her 21st Birthday this week.

Friendship Day at Donna's Home

Here's some happy snaps taken on Hallowe'en. Some of our club members spent a most enjoyable day at Donna's. Of course the day included a delicious lunch and lots of chatter and laughter.
Donna made us the most refreshing punch, not too sweet and oh so pretty.
Here's the recipe:
Equal parts of Apple & Blackcurrent Juice,Lemonade and Soda Water.
Fresh berries such as Blueberries & Strawberries
Chunks of watermelon.
It was so good I made up a jugful to serve guests at home the next day.

This was such a pretty setting to pose for our group photo. Donna's cottage garden is beautiful.

Heads down and hard at work, proof that some sewing actually happens at these lovely get-to-gethers.

This little visitor spent a happy time under Donna's food cover away from the summer bugs...he looks good enough to eat.

Another Community Project completed

Quilts are delivered to the Palliative Care Room at our local hospital by some of the members.
The two quilts really brightened the space and they were gratefully received by the staff.

A Pair of Community Quilts

Well girls, under the direction of Loris, you have produced a pair of beautiful scrappy quilts to be donated to our local hospital for use in the palliative care room.

I think most of our members have contributed in some way to these quilts.

Isn't it amazing what can be produced from scraps and we all have a few of those.

From the request to donate blocks of scrappy strips, either light or dark, these two completely different quilts were made.
Well done to all of you.

Our lovely young models are Siobhan and Shaiye.
